    Descripción


    Antipsicótico atípico, agonista parcial de receptores D2 de dopamina y 5HT1A de serotonina y antagonista 5HT2A. Su acción agonista parcial D2 difiere de la mayoría de antipsicóticos atípicos, que son antagonistas; es antagonista cuando el nivel de dopamina cerebral es elevado, lo que mejora los síntomas psicóticos positivos, y agonista cuando este nivel es bajo, lo que mejora los síntomas negativos y cognitivos. Produce menos aumento de peso que otros antipsicóticos atípicos y no produce efectos extrapiramidales o hiperprolactinemia significativa (metaanálisis de Leucht et al, Lancet 2013). La eficacia de la vía oral y de la intramuscular depot se consideran equivalentes.

    Descripción



    Antipsicótico atípico, agonista parcial de receptores D2 de dopamina y 5HT1A de serotonina y antagonista 5HT2A. Su acción agonista parcial D2 difiere de la mayoría de antipsicóticos atípicos, que son antagonistas; es antagonista cuando el nivel de dopamina cerebral es elevado, lo que mejora los síntomas psicóticos positivos, y agonista cuando este nivel es bajo, lo que mejora los síntomas negativos y cognitivos. Produce menos aumento de peso que otros antipsicóticos atípicos y no produce efectos extrapiramidales o hiperprolactinemia significativa (metaanálisis de Leucht et al, Lancet 2013). La eficacia de la vía oral y de la intramuscular depot se consideran equivalentes.
